Privacy

Clear information, only when it helps.

This overview explains the data used by the GottaGo web app. Last updated September 20, 2026.

Location

GottaGo asks for browser permission before using your location. When allowed, it uses your coordinates to rank nearby restrooms, calculate distance, and support location-based contributions. You can deny the request and search manually.

Account information

If you create an account, authentication is handled through Firebase Authentication. GottaGo may store your account identifier, display name, sign-in method, saved preferences, ratings, and contribution history.

Community contributions

Restroom locations, access details, verification events, closure reports, and contribution XP are stored so the community can evaluate how current and reliable a place is. Public contributions may show a contributor display name.

Photos

Photos you choose to upload are stored with Firebase Storage and may be displayed publicly with the related restroom. Avoid uploading faces, identification, payment information, or private areas.

Local browser storage

The web app uses local storage for settings such as language, saved preferences, and temporary contribution information. Authentication persistence may keep you signed in on the device until you sign out or clear browser data.

Service providers

GottaGo uses Firebase for hosting, authentication, database, and file storage, and Google Maps or OpenStreetMap for map presentation. These providers may process technical information under their own policies.

When you open place search, Google Places processes the search text you enter and technical information associated with the request. Selecting a venue loads its name, address, city, and coordinates. GottaGo stores the Google place ID with your restroom contribution; Google-provided venue details are loaded when needed and are not copied into our permanent community database. Restroom access notes, facilities, and other details you submit are stored separately as community contributions. Google Maps features are subject to the Google Maps Additional Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
